Cost
The Cost feature enables the user to enter a cost per unit for each Ingredient (10 per pound, 1 per 40 oz, etc.) and uses this data to calculate a Recipe cost per serving or per pound or any other available measure. There is no currency attached to the cost so that Genesis Foods can easily serve all customers in all currencies.
The calculated cost can also be overridden at the Recipe level. This override will not change the cost values entered for any of the individual ingredients.
Bilingual Labels
Users creating U.S. Labels now have the option to create bilingual labels in English and Spanish for each current U.S. template:
- Standard
- Tabular
- Linear
- Dual Column
- Aggregate
Bilingual labels are triggered by selecting the first and second languages under Display Options. More languages will be included in future releases. For the U.S., English will always be the first language, and the user has the option to select “None” or “Spanish” as the second language.
Selecting Spanish triggers fields for entering Spanish Household Serving Size and Servings Per Container. If the user creates a Dual Column or Aggregate Label, the Recipe Options menu will include fields for entering Spanish column headers, such as per serving, per container, as purchased or as prepared. See examples below.
Nutrient Content Claims
Consumers often make purchasing decisions based on packaging claims (“Low Fat,” “Good Source of Calcium,” “Reduced Calories,” and so forth), but companies must comply with U.S. Federal Regulations. Users can change which Claim they have chosen to make, as well as the descriptive text they’ve chosen to display, for any Claim the Recipe qualifies for based on the Reference Amount. Regulatory conditions are displayed so users know how the Recipe qualifies. Certain Claims (such as More or Reduced) require a Reference Recipe to be set. Users can search for, and select, a specific Recipe they want the Application to use when checking for qualifying Claims.
Versioning Updates
The platform has been updated to make the state of a Food (Ingredient or Recipe) more apparent. This new header allows users to quickly see the version and whether it is editable.
Deleting Drafts
If the user’s Ingredient or Recipe draft is no longer needed or was created in error, the user can now permanently delete it from the database, and it will no longer show up in searches or on the dashboard.
