A Custom Field is a user-defined metadata field that allows organizations to store any additional data points on an Ingredient or Recipe that aren't covered by the platform's built-in fields. Think of them as flexible, freeform fields that your organization names and populates however you see fit.
What is a Custom Field
A Custom Field is not a pre-built system field — it's entirely user-defined. You choose the name, and you choose what data goes into it.
Custom Fields can be pinned so they display in the top-right area of the Ingredient or Recipe page for high visibility.
There is no limit on the number of Custom Fields an organization can create.
Custom Fields are only enabled on an Ingredient or Recipe after the item has been named and auto-saved.
Add a Custom Field

Go to the Options menu by clicking the three dots by your user name in the bottom of the left sidebar.
- Scroll down to the Custom Field section

Type in the name under Add Custom Field
- Click Save
Pin Custom Fields
Genesis Foods allows for up to 3 custom fields to be pinned which allows for quick visibility.
- Navigate to any Ingredient or Recipe

Select Pin Custom Fields in the upper right corner
- Select up to three custom fields to pin
