Working with Trustwell Foods
Trustwell Food & Nutrition Database, a research-quality database of more than 85,000 food items, including raw ingredients, recipes, and processing items like colors and additives. We source our nutrient data from over 2,000 reputable sources, such as the latest USDA Standard Reference database, current information from FoodData Central collections, manufacturer data, restaurant data, and data from literature. In addition, we provide several calculated fields, such as the percentage of calories from fat and niacin equivalents. Mathematical checks are run on the nutrient information database before each update release to ensure data accuracy and integrity. These are referred to as included Ingredients.
If an ingredient already exists in Trustwell Foods, you can use it directly in your recipes and formulations.
If you need to modify the ingredient, create a copy. The copied ingredient is added to My Foods, where it can be edited independently of the original Trustwell-maintained record.
Note
Changes made to a copied ingredient do not affect the original Trustwell Food. Likewise, future updates made by Trustwell will not automatically apply to your copied version.
Working with My Foods
Users can add an Ingredient to the database by entering nutrient data from a certificate of analysis or spec sheet from your ingredient supplier. Added Ingredients belong to users of your organization only. They are not accessible by anyone else using the program, including Trustwell. As such, we cannot run our accuracy checks on your foods.
Using Ingredients in a Recipe
Included and added ingredients can be used in the same manner; however, if both are used in the same recipe, users may find that not all of the same nutrients will be populated. To check if an Ingredient is missing a mandatory value, look for the alerts in the Nutrients section.
