Create a Composite Ingredient

Composite Ingredients allow you to combine multiple Ingredients into a single reusable Ingredient within Genesis Foods. Once created, a Composite Ingredient can be used in Recipes like any other Ingredient.

This is commonly used when:

• Creating ingredient blends
• Managing supplier variations
• Building ingredients with sub-ingredients
• Standardizing nutritional values across multiple sources

Create a Composite Ingredient

1. Create a new Recipe
2. Add the Ingredients you want included in the composite
3. Enter the appropriate weights or percentages for each Ingredient
4. Save and approve the Recipe
5. Use the completed Recipe as a composite ingredient in other Recipes

Note: The total composition should equal 100%.

Adjust Sub-Ingredient Precision

Genesis Foods supports up to six decimal places for sub-ingredient percentages to improve:

• formulation accuracy
• ingredient statement precision

Sub-ingredient percentages must total 100%.

1. Open the Ingredient containing Sub-Ingredients
2. Select Ingredient Statement
3. Edit the sub-ingredient percentages
4. Enter values with up to six decimal places
5. Save your changes
