Override Serving Size for Labels

Important

This feature is available for US and Canada authorities only. Not yet available for labels under other Authorities.

Use Override Serving Size to define a serving size for a label that differs from the serving size calculated from the recipe. This is useful when the recipe's default serving size does not match how the product is actually served, marketed, or required to be labeled.

Overriding the serving size allows you to:

  • Create nutrition labels that align with regulatory serving size requirements.
  • Reflect real-world portion sizes used by consumers or foodservice operations.
  • Standardize serving sizes across products or menu items.
  • Adjust nutritional values based on a specific serving size without modifying the underlying recipe.

When a serving size override is applied, the label recalculates nutrient values using the new serving size while leaving the original recipe unchanged.

Override the Serving Size

  1. Open or create a new label.
  2. Click on Serving Options.

  3. Select Override Recipe Serving Size.

  4. Enter a new recipe serving size.

  5. Click Apply & Close. The Label will automatically recalculate values based on the new Serving Size.

Tip

If the serving size is shown in mL, the serving size can be overridden in mL as well.
