On U.S. Simplified label formats, if specific nutrients are calculated as insignificant, then they are automatically not displayed on the label.
Users can override and choose to display specific insignificant nutrients (Trans Fat, Cholesterol, Dietary Fiber, Total Sugars, Added Sugars, Vitamin D, Saturated Fat, Calcium, Iron, Potassium) on their Simplified Label to further back up nutritional claims such as Cholesterol Free or No Trans Fat.
Note
Calories, Total Fat, Sodium, Total Carbohydrates and Protein are always shown on a Label.
Override and Display Insignificant Nutrients
- Open Label for the Product under the US Authority.
- Click on Display Options to ensure that the Simplified Label is chosen. Select Apply & Close.
- Click on Mandatory Nutrients and choose which ones with an insignificant amount from the list above that you would like to show by using the check box in the expanded menu. Select Apply & Close.
These nutrients will now be listed in the US Simplified Label.
