Use a Canada Supplemented Foods Label when your product is a supplemented food that requires a Supplemented Food Facts table and related Health Canada labeling elements.
Supplemented foods may include products with added vitamins, minerals, amino acids, caffeine, or other supplemental ingredients. In Genesis Foods, you can create a Canada Supplemented Foods Label by selecting the appropriate label format, identifying the product as a supplemented food, choosing the supplemented food category, and entering the required supplemental information.
Before creating the label, make sure you have:
- Created or opened the recipe/formula you want to label
- Selected Canada as the labeling authority
- Confirmed the product qualifies as a supplemented food
- Identified the correct supplemented food category
- Reviewed any applicable cautionary statements or labeling requirements
Eligibility
At the Ingredient Level
The ingredient can be indicated as a supplemental ingredient under the Nutrients section below the nutrient table. Selecting this button determines the needs for a front-of-package symbol.
At the Recipe Level
When using a Supplemented Ingredient in your Formulation, you will be prompted to choose the Supplemented Food Category.
In the Packaging Symbols section, you can select your language and dimension options to generate the correct Caution Identifiers.
You can also see which cautionary statements apply to your recipe.
Label Formats
Supplemented Foods labels are available in Standard, Horizontal, and Linear formats.
